Providing $100,000 to Support Women and Children in Domestic Violence Shelters
First Grants Awarded in Michigan and Wisconsin
Application Period Opens April 1 for Future Grants
Flint, Michigan – The Kyle Kuzma Family Foundation (KKFF) has announced the launch of the Helping Hand Impact Fund, a new initiative providing $100,000 in direct financial support to single mothers and their children in domestic violence shelters to help them rebuild their lives.
The Helping Hand Impact Fund provides grants to nonprofit shelters that serve women and children experiencing, or at risk of, domestic and sexual violence. Through these grants, shelters can provide direct financial support to residents, helping them overcome immediate barriers to safety, stability, and independence.
“Having raised my children as a single mom, I know how challenging it can be to provide for your family while navigating difficult circumstances,” said Karri Kuzma, co-founder of the Kyle Kuzma Family Foundation. “Through the Helping Hand Impact Fund, we hope to provide meaningful support and empower these women to reclaim their independence.”
Domestic violence continues to be a widespread crisis in the United States, affecting approximately 10 million people each year, with women representing nearly three-quarters of victims.
KKFF also will award an additional $15,000 grant to a nonprofit organization with a primary mission to shelter women and their children. Financial support is capped at $3,500 per individual.
Application Details:
KKFF awarded two grants this year to domestic violence shelters:
YWCA Greater Flint (Michigan) – Awarded $50,000 to support:
Sojourner Peace Center (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) – Awarded $35,000 to support:
KKFF will be working with partner organizations to secure in-kind donations for ongoing support of single mothers and their children residing in shelters.
The Kyle Kuzma Family Foundation (KKFF) was founded by NBA Champion and Flint native Kyle Kuzma and his mother, Karri Kuzma, to empower single mothers and improve the lives of their children.
Inspired by Karri’s experience raising Kyle as a single mom, the Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization supporting programs that address critical needs such as safe housing, education, and family stability.
KKFF champions community impact and family empowerment through targeted initiatives in Michigan, Washington D.C., Milwaukee, Los Angeles, and beyond, with a growing global reach.
